The Illuminated Lantern let us know they have released a playable demo for 1893: A World's Fair Mystery. In the demo, you can begin the adventure, read a little background material, explore one of the exposition buildings, and interact with some other characters. The demo also works as a short tutorial for players new to Interactive Fiction, and explains all of the basic commands and how to use them. 1893: A World's Fair Mystery features over 500 archival photos from the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago, historical characters, and challenging puzzles. Players take on the role of a detective investigating a diamond theft and must match wits with a criminal mastermind. The adventure uses a traditional text interface instead of the now common point-and-click interface, resulting in game play based on literary rather than cinematic conventions. Heh, I didn't play game like that since 1987 |
