NOTE: To automatically create the GFI AntiSpam Folders public
folders on your exchange server, you must make sure to enable the
Scan Public Folders option in GFI MailEssentials and to enable/start
the IMAP service on your Exchange server.
GFI MailEssentials will retrieve the email, and add the MIME FROM
email address (whole email not domain) to the blacklist
To use the public folder scanning feature, you must configure GFI
MailEssentials to scan the public folders. To do this:
1. In the GFI MailEssentials configuration, right click on the Anti-spam
node and select Properties.
2. Select the Public Folder Scanning tab.

3. Check the Enable Public Folder scanning checkbox.
4. Now choose how GFI MailEssentials will retrieve the emails from
the public folders:
• Via MAPI (requires that GFI MailEssentials be installed on the
Exchange Server machine itself)
• Via IMAP (requires that the Microsoft Exchange IMAP service is
started). IMAP allows you to scan the public folders remotely and
also works well across firewalls. It can also be used with other Mail
servers that support IMAP.
5. If you select IMAP, you must specify the Mail server name, port
(default IMAP port is 143) as well as a username and password. You
can also use a secure connection by checking the Use secure
connection (SSL) checkbox.
6. Click the Test button. If everything works, the public folders will be
created automatically and a dialog box as shown below will be
displayed. If the test fails, check the credentials and re-test.
