Flege Out on the long and lonesome highway, west of Omaha. What a trip, Louisville, KY to San Franscisco, Ca, Metallica's home town, and not a trip to see the Stones. I've seen them before, they should retire before Keith completely forgets all the parts. I've also seen Metallica before, 33 times before this one, and never have I been dissapointed. Again, Metallica provided several firsts, even at #34. First the opening song, Orion. The Metclub site stated the first time this song was played live was on Sunday night. Sure am glad I heard the second time. Also, for 33 times, James sang one line of Master of Puppets with the crowd singing the next. This time, James sang all the song, which was great and also a first to hear the original version live in this way. Thanks guys. And the color of the Stones stage lights with Metallica music something freaky in its own way. Another plus was the absence of stage props and explosions, making the music the main attraction without any diversions. And it was just as it always has been, hard, heavy, and right on. Metallica stuck with mostly its older stuff, nothing off St. Anger, which would probably been too much for mostly Stones fans anyway. "For Whom the Bell Tolls" "Unforgiven" "Creeping Death" ALL sounding heavy and tight as ever. For me, Metallica has never been about a concert or a few cd's anyway. Metallica is a way of life. And Metallicats will live that way of life until we can see Metallica live, whether for as many times a year on a full blown world tour, or for a couple of dates in a single year. Metallica has proven that they can hold their own anyplace, with anybody. All I can say is, new album or not, next year a summer "Anger Shit in the Sheds" tour will have to be. We can't wait. Maybe get the Stones to open up. Thanks guys! | |
