CodeGuys EEPROM Utility (v1.3.2)
What is it

The EEPROM is a 1024 byte non-volitile memory in the drive, which stores data that needs to be retained when the drive is de-powered. I suggest that everyone with a Liteon DVD drive should use this utility to make a backup of their EEPROM straight away (if you don't have one already) and make two copies for safe keeping. You may never need it but it's good to have just in case. If you have two drives, it's even more important, as it is very easy to write the EEPROM file to the wrong drive. This can kill a drive because each EEPROM has unique calibration data, that is set in the factory. MAKE A BACKUP NOW!!!! What have you got to lose.  |
Reset Learnt Media

This option is for:
1/ Drives that drifts from good burns to poor burns after several burns.
2/ Drives that have used strategy switches and now have poor burn quality.
3/ Drives that now burn poorly after a very bad burn.
4/ 1213S users upgrading to 1633S or returning to 1213S. This is because the media code indices are completely different between the 1213S and 1633S, so the wrong learn data may be used.
Note: Please understand that this option is quite experimental, at this stage. Make sure you backup your eeprom before using it.
Compatibility
Only DVD drives can be selected from the drop down list. EEPROM files for this utility are compatible with other EEPROM utilities.
Note: Do not use this utility on anything other than Liteon hardware.

EEPROM Utility v1.3.2 has been released to address an issue with Window 98 and Me, which doesn't support SPTI. I also added the date info to the drive ID, in the drive list.
Changes:
1/ Searches for drives on SPTI and ASPI.
2/ Shows drive date in the drive list.
