Jackson 5 - Dancing Machine SOUL | CUERIPPER | FLAC | CUE | LOG | COVER | 218MB | 32:24 Motown 1974 Цитата: Magnificent material from the Jackson 5 – a set that really has them moving into a whole new mature style in their music – taking on bigger themes and wider grooves, and really finding a fresh new voice in the process! There's a bit of funk in the mix, a bit of early club, and some cool baroque production modes that really move past straight Motown hit styles – heard to greatest effect on the album's wonderful opener – "I Am Love". The set also features the classic pre-disco "Dancing Machine", a perennial favorite – and the cuts "The Mirrors Of My Mind", "Whatever You Got I Want", "She's A Rhythm Child", "If I Don't Love You This Way", and "What You Don't Know". © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | TRACKLISTING: 1. The Wright brood moved to Los Angeles when Charles Wright was 12. In Watts, Wright befriended doo woppers and balladeers like Jesse Belvin, the Hollywood Flames, the Youngsters, and others who lived in the area. Propped by stars like Bill Cosby and publicized by two and a half years of sold-out crowds at the Haunted House (a local club), along with an unexpected local hit, the band was able to secure a contract with Warner Bros. Records. Nothing major came from this set that displayed a choppy rhythmic approach similar to Dyke & the Blazers. But this surprisingly hard-to-find album produced by James Carmichael, who went on to great success with the Commodores, features some thick funk: "Fried Okra," "Brown Sugar," and reworkings of "Yellow Submarine," "The Girl From Ipanema," and "Bring It on Home to Me." While not the most cohesive set, you can't knock the hot SoCal energy exhibited by Wright and his crew of young hopefuls, including future Earth, Wind & Fire member Al McKay, along with James Gadson, Melvin Dunlap, Big John Rayford, Bill Cannon, Gabriel Flemings, and Joe Banks. The LP's most popular track, "Spreading Honey," charted at number 44 R&B and number 73 pop in 1967. The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band didn't even record the song. Wright cut the track with Bobby Womack, Leon Haywood, James Carmichael, and others as the theme song for DJ Magnificent Montague's radio show. But it smoked so much that Warner Bros. signed them on the dotted line and credited the single to the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band; this album followed, and the rest is history. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide | TRACKLISTING: 01. While Mic Murphy made a distinctive and soulful frontman, it was keyboardist David Frank's mastery of studio technology that gave the System its edge; X-Periment showed that his only rivals in creating the hip-hop-flavored dance music of the day were producers Arthur Baker and John Robie. The supple grooves here wiggle well beyond the disco lockstep of the band's debut, and the incredibly busy mixes make for consistently entertaining listening. If there's a weakness, it's that, as on the first album, the melodies are often sketchy, and songs like "Dangerous" lean too heavily on Frank's studio wizardry. However, X-Periment also contains two of the System's best-ever tunes, both written with guest guitarist (and Madonna sideman) Paul Pesco. "Promises Can Break" is a sweet showcase for Murphy, tipping the group's trademark balance between hi-tech and humanity firmly in favor of the latter, and "I Wanna Make You Feel Good" is even better, a far superior rethink of "You Are in My System," the band's big hit from its debut. Beneath the layers of squiggly synths and cracking electronic percussion is a Prince-ly pop song that deserved to be a breakout hit -- something that eluded the System until 1987's more restrained "Don't Disturb This Groove." ~ Dan LeRoy, All Music Guide The Pleasure Seekers The System's scintillating synth tonal accents seemed to mirror the quicksilver 80s era ascendancy of the microchip in every facet of everyday life. The pioneering synth duo of keyboardist David Frank and singer Mic Murphy first came to fame for their innovative dance single "You Are In My System" and had a 1987 hit with "Don't Disturb This Groove." On their 1985 album The Pleasure Seekers, The System continue to shape and influence synth-based R&B/pop music. The duo performed the propulsive title track single on an episode of the hit NBC series Miami Vice. The smooth, warm "This For You" could be described as a mid-tempo forerunner to "Don't Disturb This Groove." Other standouts are "Big City Beat," "It Takes Two," "Love Wont Wait," and "I Don't Run From Danger." The Pleasure Seekers was reissued on CD in 2000 as a Japanese import by WEA International. During the same month, The System's Orpheus Music/Avex USA debut album ESP was released. ~ Ed Hogan, All Music Guide | TRACKLISTING: 01. I Wanna Make You Feel Good 02. Dangerous 03.
